BJP worker's son sustains bullet injury

A two and half year old Chirom Lanchenba, son of Ch Saratbabu of Thongju Part II Pheijaleitong Makha Maibi Lampak under Singjamei Police Station sustained bullet injuries when unidentified miscreants fired few rounds of bullet at the residence of Saratbabu on Friday early morning at around 12.25 am.
Saratbabu is said to be a worker of BJP candidate in Thongju A/C.After a bullet hit Lanchenba on his back, he was immediately rushed to Shija Hospital.
Lanchenba's condition is said to be stable after doctors conducted operation and took out the 9mm bullet from his body.
Saratbabu, who survived from the attack, condemned the attack and stated that citizens have the right to choose their own candidates and cast their votes in a democratic country.
A public meeting was also held on Friday morning and condemned the incident.
The locals also threatened to launch an intense agitation if the authorities fail take action on the case.
Later a mass sit-in protest was held at Thongju Part II Pheijaleitong Makha Maibi Lampak Community Hall.
The protesters condemned the incident and demanded immediate clarification from the culprits involved in the attack.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders led by BJP Manipur-in-Charge Prahlad Singh Patel on Friday visited Shija Hospital to inquire about the condition of the Chirom Lanchenba.
Prahlad Singh Patel, BJP Manipur Pradesh President Th Chaoba, former minister O Joy and others also visited the injured child.
