Ukhrul Churches fast for Naga Peace Accord

Concatenating a batch of supplications towards expediting the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process, different Churches across the district on Friday organized solemn prayer and fasting programs with much spiritual fervency under the aegis of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) .
While each and every Church held the spiritual event at their respective localities in the township and in villages, the main service was held at the Union Baptist Church (UBC), Phungreitang under the theme "Fasting Program for Nagalim" .
During the main fasting service which commenced at 8:30 am, local pastor Rev Remember Rimai led the congregation in praying for early resolution to the age old Naga issue, granting of the best of health to Yaruiwo Isac Swu and Ato Kilonser Th Muivah and asking for God';s guidance and blessings to the collective Naga nationalists and social apex organizations like Naga Hohos, United Naga Council (UNC) and TNL in the course of Naga movement.
Substantiating God';s grace upon Nagas through the years gone by through biblical messages, Rev Rimai said that the Almighty has always been there for the Nagas.
He then called upon the Naga brethren to submit and obey God';s will for the framework agreement to realize Nagas aspirations, while stating that He is the ultimate master of Nagas destiny.
Partaking in the fasting service, Ng Jagoi, CAO of the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR)/NSCN-IM exhorted the congregation to uphold the spirit of Nagalim, while imploring God';s mercy in resolving the vexed Naga issue.
A team of TNL led by vice president P Peimi and general secretary Nobert Khayi and director Shalom Ministry Ramayon Jajo also attended the service.
Simultaneously, a similar fasting service was held at View land Baptist Church (VBC).
Pastor Rev Ruichumhao Shimrah expounded that prayer is the only strength for the Nagas at this crucial juncture.
Basing on the passages of Matthew, VBC clerk Ngachanso Shimrah urged that the Nagas do not to judge among themselves so that God might not judge them for their myriad shortcomings.
Church leaders Ms Imsy and Achui Luithui spoke on the need for Nagas to lead a prayerful life and confess the way King David did to his transgressions.
Meanwhile, Phungyo Baptist Church, Hunphun Baptist Church, Bumrei Church and other churches across the district organised similar fasting programmes on Friday.
