Imphal, November 20 2015 :
Coordinator of Reach Out, Kshetrimayum Onil has refuted the allegation against him in connection with the reported detention of one Mangneo Touthang, assistant editor of Khohui magazine and urged the KSO to withdraw the statement.
Onil also urged the security forces to stop harassing and threatening human rights defenders.
Addressing a press meet today at Manipur Press Club, Ksh Onil said that he did whatever he could in his individual capacity to secure the release of Mangneo after he was whisked away by security personnel in civil dress after collecting a video file relating to child soldier from him.
Onil said he spoke to police officers including the SP concerned.
The editorial board members of the magazine had not responded to the phone call of Onil the next morning after learning that Mangneo was released, he said.
Onil also said that some police commandos in civil dress came to his house in the night of Nov 18 and asked him to come to Commando Complex the next morning.
Saying that the summoning by the police commandos was uncalled for, Onil urged the security forces to stop harassment to human rights defenders.
