Imphal, November 20 2015 :
The Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) has threatened to file legal suit against any organisation/individual who make communal or inflammatory statements in public.
A team of ICHAM led by its president N Rajendro (Boy) went to Lamka town today and paid homage to the nine people who were killed in the protest agitation against the three Bills passed by Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31 .
During a simple function held at the town, ICHAM made some donations in cash and kind to the Joint Philanthropic Organisation (JPO) which has been taking the main responsibility of looking after the dead and injured victims of the protest movement.
Speaking at the occasion, Rajendro said that the nine people lost their lives because of the ever growing number of civil organisations, making irresponsible statements in public and Government's stoic silence on the matter.
Rather than trying to understand the difficulties of people living in remote places of the State, some people even termed people living in remote corners as foreigners.
Given this disturbing scenario, ICHAM has decided to file legal suits against organisations/individuals who communal and inflammatory statements on public platforms.
He also appealed to the media not to publish communally charged press statements.
Ahead of the funeral service of the nine victims scheduled on November 30, ICHAM also donated bouquets and clothes to JPO.
