Thoubal, February 16 2022:
A scuffle broke out between State police and several women from Heirok Assembly Constituency as the latter tried to storm the office of the District and Session Judge Thoubal, today.
Reportedly, the irate women turned up in the area on learning that the six accused who were arrested in connection with the death of 21 year old student Ningthoujam Rohit on December 21 will be produced before the Court.
The protesters raised slogans such as "Punish the killers," "NSA for killers," "No bail for killers," by assembling outside the Court's gate as their attempt to enter the complex was stopped by the police, following which a scuffle broke out between the two sides for a brief period.
As the mother of the deceased student N Eshabi fell unconscious at that moment, the other protesting women berated the police for their alleged inaction and asked if they (the police) take satisfaction in seeing the grief of the inconsolable mother who had lost a son.
Subsequently, Eshabi was taken to Thoubal District Hospital by some of the women.
Speaking to the media, one Moirangthem Gambini said that she condemns the State Government for their inability to convict the killers even after so many days in the strongest term.
