CM eyes full vaccination before Christmas

After the launch of Covid Vaccination Express vehicles in three districts ensure that every eligible person is administered the vaccine at their doorsteps, CM N Biren flagged off 80 more such Covid Vaccination Express vehicles for the remaining 13 districts from in front of Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium here on Thursday.
Speaking at the flagging off function organised jointly by State Health Society, National Health Mission and Care India, N Biren called upon the people to join hands for achieving 100 per cent vaccination rate in the state before Christmas so that they could celebrate Christmas and New Year with much zeal and enthusiasm.
He pointed out that though the Covid-19 situation is improving as there is decline in the infection rate in the state, yet the pandemic is not fully under control and as such it should not be taken lightly.
He appealed to every eligible person to get vaccinated without further delay.
Reminding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced concern about the lowly vaccination rate in the hill districts of Manipur during in a recent virtual meeting, he stressed the need for improving the rate in the hill areas as it is still much lower compared to the valley districts and national average.
Urging the people not to believe in fake and false rumours regarding Covid vaccines, he also called upon the church leaders, village chiefs and CSOs of hill districts to convince the people that vaccination is the only way to protect from the infectious disease.
Stating that India has developed two indigenous Covid -19 vaccines to fight the pandemic and save precious human lives, the chief minister said that the country had crossed 100 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccination under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi.
On the occasion, N Biren thanked CARE India team for extending the humanitarian service of providing vaccination at people's doorsteps across the State at this juncture.
It may be mentioned here that 120 vehicles and staff have been provided by CARE India for Covid Vaccination Express under their CSR initiative.
The NGO will directly fund the hiring charges, staff expenses, operational expenses for the Covid Vaccination Express vehicles and staff.
The vehicles are equipped with necessary equipment, vaccines and medical personnel who will travel to every nook and corner of the districts to vaccinate people at their doorsteps.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle in this regard, Care India State Program Manager Sunil Mohanty informed that the initiative has been taken up after the state government approached for assistance in the vaccination process.
For the 13 districts, 80 vehicles, 240 staffers will be utilised, he informed, while adding that 40 vehicles and 120 staffers are being used to facilitate vaccination of eligible persons in the three districts.
The 13 new districts for which the Covid Vaccination Express vehicles were launched on Thursday include Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur, Churachndpur, Pherzawl, Tengnoupal, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Noney, Tamenglong, Jiribam, Kamjong and Ukhrul.
The Chief Minister had flagged off the Covid Vaccination Express for Imphal East, Imphal West and Senapati Districts last month.
Rajya Sabha MP Leisemba Sanajaoba, chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, additional chief secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang, ICT Head of CARE India Ramkrishnan Balakrishnan, director Health Services, Manipur Dr K Rajo and others were also present during the function.
