Kuki MLAs send rejoinder

Imphal, September 01 2026: After nine Naga MLAs sent a representation to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking action against Kuki-Zo leaders and Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, accusing the latter of colluding with a Kuki militant group, the Kuki-Zo MLAs Forum has sent a rejoinder to the Union Home Minister today.

The rejoinder sent by MLA Haokholet Kipgen (Saitu AC) and MLA Chinlunthang (Singhat AC) said that in this critical and tiring time, a broader outlook upon the situation is very much required, narrow and chauvinistic conclusion without delving into the matter will bear no fruits.

Dragging the names of Kuki�Zo leaders-- in the persons of Nemcha Kipgen, Deputy CM, Thangboi Kipgen (KNF-P) and Tiger Kipgen etc and alleging them as the instigator of the present conflagration is totally illogical given the fact that the issue at hand is a communal conflict which has escalated beyond the sphere of individual control and influences regardless of his or her position, it said.

The Kuki-Zo MLAs Forum said that the demand for abrogation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) at this juncture is irrelevant and has no locus-standi.

Giving in to such unnecessary demand will be counter-productive in view of the gravity of the heightened escalations, it said.

It is high time for the elected representatives (MLAs) from both the warring communities to rein in their respective communities for restraint rather than pointing fingers of accusation at each other in order to find a viable solution to long lasting peace and harmony, the forum said.

The forum also sought the Union Home Minister's intervention and wisdom for amicable settlement of the current imbroglio.
