5 CSOs condemn attack

Imphal, September 01 2026: 5 CSOs have condemned the attack on N Teikhang village yesterday which killed three persons.

N Teikhang is a village under T Waichong sub-division of Kangpokpi district.

In a statement, the civil bodies, which include All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM), All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Committee on Human Rights (COHR) and Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), said they condemn the attack in the strongest terms.

Notably, the attack by well-armed men killed three, Lantinthang Lhoujem, son of Seilum Lhoujem; Tingneichin Lhoujum, wife of Tongpao Lhoujem; and Hoineng Lhoujem, wife of Thanggoulen Lhoujem, and injured four others.

Several houses were also burnt in the attack, said the 5 CSOs.

Since May 3, 2023, multiple attacks have taken place in many villages across several districts.

The continuation of such attacks even today is a clear sign of the failure of the Government to take up appropriate measures to protect lives and properties of the people, said the 5 CSOs .

All communities in conflict must stop seeking vengeance and work toward restoring peace and coexistence, said the civil bodies.
