Imphal, September 01 2026:
The 14 CSOs, Kangleipak has urged all MLAs to attend the 8th session of the State Assembly which is set to commence tomorrow without fail.
Speaking to the media at Khuyathong today, Nahakpam Shanta, convenor of the 14 CSOs, said they have urged several MLAs to table an adjournment motion seeking updation of the NRC during the Assembly session, which is scheduled to have only three sittings.
Saying that the support of at least 10 MLAs is required to table the motion, he appealed to all legislators to attend the Assembly session.
The deferment of the census is clear, he said, adding that what the people want is for the demand to update the NRC to be discussed and for steps to be taken to identify illegal immigrants.
All Manipur Muslim Organisations Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) president SM Jalal also urged all MLAs to discuss the identification of illegal immigrants and adopt a necessary resolution to address the concerns of the people.
He also appealed to Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen to attend the session in person.
Leaders of other organisations also attend the press briefing.
