LJP intending candidate resigns

Lok Janshakti party (LJP), Manip.ur State vice-president Nongmaithem Sanjay has resigned from the primary membership of the party as part of his strategy to contest the forthcoming 2022 state assembly election.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at his Sekmaijin residence on Thursday, Sanjay said that LJP is divided into two groups after the death of its founder Ram Vilas Paswan in October last year and consequently, Election Commission has frozen the party's election symbol.
Considering the degrading status of the party, he took the decision of resigning from the party in the interest of his supporters and people of Hiyanglam assembly constituency.
He had submitted his resignation paper to the party's state president on Thursday, he said.
He further said that he will consult with his supporters and election committee before taking a decision on joining another political party to fight the 2022 state assembly election.
Consequent to his resignation, all the primary and active members of LJP from Hiyanglam assembly have also resigned from the party, according to the Hiyanglam Kendra Committee president O Chandramani.
They will support and join another party as per decision of Sanjay, he added.
