Vaccine Distribution Management System launched

Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar launched an web based initiative for providing medical aids and assistance to the people known as Drug and Vaccine Distribution Management System (DVDMS) today.
Speaking to media persons during the launch event of the initiative at his official residence at Babupara, Jayantakumar said that the initiative has been taken up under the Central Government's e-Aushadi programme and explained that under the said system, medicines and other benefits like sutures and surgical items will be procured and specially provided to the patients at the State hospital, district hospital, urban health centre, primary health centres etc.
Jayantakumar explained that the said medicines and aids will be procured after properly calculating the required items at the health facilities and added that DVDMS also has a system for tracking all the processes beginning from placing demand for any medical items upto the delivery and administration of the said items to the patient.
The system will help eliminate wastage of extra medicines, loss of such items due to expiry and help regulate the manpower needed as well as increase the transparency, the Minister explained.
Jayantakumar informed that an MoU was signed between the Director of Health Services, National Health Mission State Mission Director and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (an IT firm based in Silchar) on April 22, 2016 for the said system.
Health Services Director Dr K Rajo, NHM State Mission Director N Bandana as well as other officials were also present at the event.
