CAF & PD, Revenue Minister Karam Shyam has stressed on knowledge combined with utmost patience in a self-challenging way as an important tool for facing and curbing various hurdles and circumstances of life relating to environment, friend circle, crisis, personal as well as family matters & financial constraints.
He was speaking as chief guest at the felicitation ceremony of meritorious students (from Class 1 to 10) of Catholic School at Canchipur today.
N Mohilal Meitei, Prof MU as well as president PTA, CSC, M Lokendro Singh, retd Chief Engineer and Dominic Lumon, most Rev D D Archbishop, Imphal shared the dais with the Minister as guests of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Karam Shyam expressed happiness over the outstanding performance of the students of Catholic School in his Langthabal Constituency in the recent HSLC Exam, 2018, by grabbing three positions in top 10 and five in the remaining top 25 as well as 151 first divisions.
Drawing the attention of the students on achieving real success in life, he said that getting high marks in academics is not the end, we have to fill our lives with the elements of goodness or honesty by inculcating the art of good listening and participating in extra-curricular activities as well.
"Money may perish, our academic credibility may decrease with time but knowledge and wisdom contained in our heads will live and be used forever.
To be able to become successful in life, all-round education with sound knowledge plays a key foundation to attain our final destiny in the field of administration, executive office work, social work & other walks of life and face the obstacles of life bravely and effectively", the Minister stated.
Appreciating the private school teachers for their contribution by producing brilliant students, he said that they take more responsibility than their Government counterparts.
He also mentioned about initiating a Memorial Foundation in his father's name that will provide financial assistance and distribute prizes to the meritorious students of the school annually.
Citing the example of academician and thinker Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Prof N Mohilal Meitei focused on the purpose of education and highlighted on the need to serve humanity.
Handing over the Rabichandra Memorial Award to the HLSC topper of the school for 2018, Km Archana Hijam (who bagged the overall 4th position in the State), M Lokendro reminded the people about the inspirational works, principles and ideas of the first President of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad.
Meanwhile, two students of the school namely Naorem Feirojamba Meitei and Ph Ashima bagged the 4th and 10th ranks respectively among the top 10.Teachers, staff, students and guardian of Catholic School attended the function.
