Paomee Welfare Foundation aids ailing journalists, family members

Imphal, July 26 2018:
Paomee Welfare Foundation, a charitable Trust set up by AMWJU today, distributed a sum of Rs 3,30,000 to six beneficiaries.
A team of trustees led by the Foundation's Chairperson, W Shamjai handed over the money by visiting them at their homes.
The distribution of the financial aid was carried out following the recommendation of a high-powered Medical Board of the Foundation.
The Medical Board with representatives from reputed hospitals like RIMS, JNIMS and Shija made the recommendation after thorough deliberation upon the application for medical assistance received from the beneficiaries, keeping in mind the financial status of the Foundation for such medical assistance.
The other trustees present at the distribution of financial aid were Pradip Phanjoubam, vice chairperson, Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, secretary, Sukham Nanda, joint secretary, Oinam Ibochouba, assistant treasurer, N Tombiraj, AMWJU advisor and trustee, Asem Bhakta, trustee and Shamurailatpam Gautam Sharma, trustee.
AK Sanaton, former president, AMWJU and current advisor, who is recuperating for a critical medical condition at his residence in Singjamei, Kshetri Leikai home received a cheque of Rs.75,000 for his treatment.
Ailing PTI senior Photo journalist, Phanjoubam Santosh, who received Rs 50,000 expressed his gratitude towards the trust.
Meanwhile, Jit Ningombam who received Rs 70,000 for his wife's treatment appreciated the gesture and said that 'nobody had offered such kind of assistance in a long time' .
43 year old Chanam Netraj, reporter of Echal Express who is a recovering stroke patient received Rs 75,000 .
Monthly News Magazine, Liklam, Editor, Ak Rajen Meitei who suffered from a critical illness received a sum of Rs 50,000 .
Ksh Meghajit Meitei, Naharol Thoudang reporter who received Rs 10,000 for his daughter's health condition also appreciated AMWJU for coming up with PWF and giving financial aid to ailing journalists or their family.
Paomee Welfare Foundation was set up to carry out welfare programs of AMWJU, particularly in terms of medical assistance for its retired and present members and one of their immediate family members.
The corpus Funds of over Rs 85 lakh was raised by AMWJU through mega lottery, organized in 2017 under the leadership of W Shamjai, former AMWJU president.
