Imphal, September 12 2026: Convener of the Chandel Naga Peoples Organization and two members of the Just and Fair Delimitation have been released on bail after they were produced before the Duty Magistrate Imphal East this afternoon.

The three, JFD members Nongthongbam Govind and Seram Surjit, and convener of CNPO Saka Maring were arrested by the Imphal East district police yesterday for closing down and locking the office of the SDO Porompat.

They were produced before the Court by a team of Porompat police station along with a prayer for taking them under custody.

The defense counsel, on the other hand, filed a remand objection along with a prayer for releasing them on bail.

The Court, after hearing the submission, ordered the release of the three on bail on their execution of Rs 30,000 PR bond.
