Kargil Vijay Diwas observed

Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed today at districts across the State to pay homage to martyrs and commemorate the victory of the Indian Army in the 1999 Kargil War with Pakistan.
In Chandel, the district administration observed the 19th Kargil Vijay Diwas at DRDA hall, Chandel to pay homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country in the war in 1999.SP Chandel Kamei Angam Romanus, CO 8th MR S Somorjit Singh, ADC/ADM, Chandel Dr A Chinglenkhomba Meitei and CEO, ADC Chandel DY Julie Anal attended the observance.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries recalled the supreme sacrifices of the brave soldiers who fought for the country in the Kargil war (Operation Vijay).
They stated that their patriotism and sacrifices for protecting motherland would always be remembered.
Two minutes silence in memory of the martyred soldiers in the Kargil war was observed.
Gifts were given to the family members of the martyred soldiers on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that three out of the five martyrs (Manipur) were from Chandel district.
They are Ng Beningvir Moyon, Khukthar village, Chara Nicholas Moyon, Heigrutampak village and S Gerneithang Aimol from Unapal village.
The observance was attended by Addl SP Chandel, Samad Ahmed, SDC HQ, Chandel Rebecca Wanglar, SDC Chandel M Gautam, DLOs and family members of the three martyrs from Chandel district.
In Thoubal, the observance was held at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner.
It is our bounding duty to pay homage to the soldiers who laid down their lives in saving our motherland, said ADM Thoubal L Radhakanta.
SP, Thoubal S Gautam lauded the dedication and sacrifices of the soldiers in saving the country from foreign invasion.
"Like those soldiers, we should work with full dedication and sincerity for the development of the country," he said.
Tributes were paid to the martyrs of the war by observing two minutes silence.
The function was also attended by SDOs of Thoubal and Lilong and DLOs.
District administration Senapati observed Kargil Vijay Diwas at DRDA conference hall, Senapati.
Deputy Commissioner along with SDOs, DLOs and staff paid homage to the martyrs of Kargil War.
"Kargil Vijay Diwas is a day not only to pay homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country during the Kargil War.
It is also a day to reaffirm our patriotism and our loyalty to protect and defend the country," said Deputy Commissioner, Senapati Kh Lalmani Singh.
SDO Paomata, Adahrii Maheo said Kargil war was not only a fight to protect the country against enemies but was also a fight to safeguard the sanctity and unity of the country irrespective of caste, creed, religion.
We should remember this victory.
If we are united, we can accomplish anything, he said.
"It is our pride and honour and privilege to be able to pay homage to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country � us," he added.
A minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyred soldiers.
