Health Minister promises infrastructure for writers

Imphal, July 26 2018:
Observing that maintaining a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere is very much necessary for writers to carry out their affairs like sharing ideas and views among themselves and get inspirations, Arts & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar has conveyed that the State Government is planning to find a suitable place to build an infrastructure for the said purpose.
He was speaking as chief guest at a book releasing function of Ningthoujam Dhiren's "My Vision for a Shining Manipur", organized by Writers' Club Manipur, Nambol at Manipur Press Club today.
Contending that writers play pivotal roles in guiding the society towards a good and righteous path, the Minister further maintained that writers are a respectable group of people in a society and every sections of the society must encourage their (writer's) works and honour them.
He asserted that he has a vision to promote and enhance the conditions of the writers in the State, although he does not have much knowledge on literatures or works of writers.
Pointing out that the attention of readers depend much on the creativity of the writers, Jayantakumar opined that the book released today will be quite beneficial to the readers, particularly the youth, as it dwells on various issues of Manipur.
The function was also attended by Dr Salam Santibala Devi, president Writers' Club Manipur, Nambol , Arjun Telheiba, convenor Joint Action Committee on Inner Line Permit System, Manipur, M Guna Meitei, Member DRCC, North Eastern Frontier Railway, Lumding Division, GoI, Romeo Bungdpn, general secretary, All Manipur Tribal Union, Manipur and Ibopishak Nongthombam, advisor Writers' Club Manipur, Nambol as the president, guests of honour and book reviewers respectively.
