Tamenglong, July 22 2013:
When a person wants medicine he just goes to the nearby pharmacy to buy it or if he wants a certificate then he has to go to the concerned department get it.
However, it is not like in Tamenglong district where almost all the heads of the government departments or DDOs do not attend to their office regularly.
In fact, none of the heads of departments and DDOs attended to their duties in Tamenglong District HQs today.
During a tour of all the Government Departments in the district headquarters conducted by Hueiyen Lanpao today, all the DDOs concerned were found out of station and the offices looked deserted.
Very few officers including Chief Executive Officer, ADC Tamenglong, Bank UBI Manager and some in-charge officers were seen working on their tables.
Due to the frequent absent of DDOs in their offices, anyone who comes from far and near for official work has to stay back for a week or so.
Otherwise, they have to go down to Imphal spending their hard earned money.
None could deny that out of the nine districts of Manipur, Tamenglong district is the most backward district.
Apart from locating very far from Imphal and having only one connecting route, Tamenglong has been lagging far behind other districts in term of development in every sphere.
Even there is acute shortage of currency in the lone branch of United Bank of India in Tamenglong for months without end.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao in this connection, KB Aduan, Convener of Zeliangrong Peoples' Coordination Committee, Tamenglong pointed out, "Sometime, we miss education, admission or training as we did get certificate in time as the officials concerned who would issue them is out of station" .
Taking into consideration of all these neglect, it is clear that the Government of Manipur is not concern about the hill people.
So, the demand for Alternative Arrangement for the Nagas of Manipur outside Manipur Government by the United Naga Council is justifiable, he added.
Thomas Kamei, Chairman of Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur said that enjoying full salaries without working by the Government officials is condemnable.
He also appealed to all the government officers posted in Tamenglong district to join their respective offices and work in the interest of the people.
A poor denizen who did not want to reveal his name told Hueiyen Lanpao that he had gone to DC Office today for the verification of his passport.
However, when he went inside, the office looked deserted and he came back disheartened.
Another elderly woman informed that she too gone to one office for transferring of her bank account number but the officer concerned was found to be out of station.
