First Olympian judoka Brojeshori passes away

Imphal, July 22 2013:
The first Indian woman Olympian judka L Brojeshori Devi passed away at G K Hospital in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu today.
She was 32 .
Brojeshori, who worked as Inspector in of Central Reserve Police Force, was in CRPF Training Centre, Coimbatore since last two months on a Departmental Promotion Training Program.
During the training for her promotion to Assistant Commandant, she complained of stomach pain yesterday and was admitted to the private hospital, where an operation was conducted.
The reason of her death is yet to be confirmed as the post-mortem report is awaited.

Meanwhile, family members of the Sydney Olympic Games-2000 participant told that they were not aware about any illness and never had she complaint about any illness before. The late first Olympian from the state was the third child among five children born to L Manglem and Taruni of Khagempalli.
Besides being a part of a number of international judo events, she also participated in Asian and Commonwealth Games-2002 .
She won gold medals in the South Asian Games held in 2006 and 2010.She also won medals at national and international level.
