Imphal, July 22 2013:
The Manipur MBBS/BDS 2013 Entrance Exam Parents/Guardians' Association said the demand raised by the All India Students' Federation (AISF) Manipur State Council for holding counselling process for NEET-UG qualified candidates is in contravention of the Supreme Court's final ruling of July 18 .
Challenging the AISF to point out the Supreme Court ruling of July 18 which provides provision for such arrangement as raised by the students' body, the Guardians' Association in a statement said that what it knows about the ruling is that the Supreme Court quashed the NEET exam.
Interpreting the ruling of the Supreme to one's own whim and fancies would be awry, besides exerting all efforts to legitimatise the already invalidated NEET would amount to posing challenge to the Court, the statement said.
If at all the concerned authority attempted to select State nominees based on NEET merit lists, there is every reason to charge the concerned Minister/official of going against the provisions of Articles 19, 25, 26, 29 and 30 of the Indian Constitution.
Insisting the State Government to act in accordance with the Supreme Court ruling without any further delay, the Guardians' Association has advised the Government to stop waiting for the steps taken by other counterparts of the country.
