Imphal, July 22 2013:
President of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) Kim Gangte has alleged that the National Food Security Bill-2013 is just a political gimmick of the Congress Party aimed at garnering maximum support from common people in the coming Lok Sabha election.
She was addressing media persons at the head-office of MPTC, Keishampat here today.
Kim Gangte further said that only rice or wheat does not constitute all food items.
The National Food Security Bill holds no meaning when the Government fails to check growing prices of other food items, she noted.
Nothing can be expected from the Congress Party.
The poor masses cannot survive with mere five kilograms of rice which the Government proudly announces to make available at Rs.3 per kilogram.
The Food Security Bill is nothing more than the election tool of Congress Party, the MPTC President contended.
She continued that rice for APL, BPL and AAY cannot be distributed regularly to the public by the Government, and so the proposed policy of Food Security is just a deceptive programme of the Congress Party.
Kim went on to lambast the State Government for its inability to monitor prices of essential commodities in the aftermath of landslide at Nagaland and provide regular power supply in the State.
The bureaucrats and officials of State Government are just working for Ministers rather than in the public interest.
Corruption is at the highest level in all Government departments and corporations, she added.
Meanwhile, Treasurer of MPTC Jiten demanded the State Government to conduct the controversial MBBS/BDS Entrance Test as soon as possible before any untoward happens.
