Imphal, July 22 2013:
Around 100 oil tankers and LPG bullets stranded at Jiribam are set to leave for Imphal with a special escort party tomorrow morning, informed a source based at Jiribam.
Other loaded trucks have begun their journey from Jiribam to Imphal since July 17.The loaded trucks were stranded enroute to Imphal because of the motorcade in which Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam were travelling for inspection of NH 37 from Nungba to Barak together with Union Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Rao yesterday.
The oil tankers and LPG bullets are expected to arrive here late night tomorrow.
Necessary security arrangements would be made for the next trip to Jiribam soon after the oil tankers and other trucks empty their loads here.
On the other hand, Union Minister of State Jitendra Rao could make an assessment of the Imphal-Jiribam highway only up to Barak because of the extremely bad condition of the highway.
As such, the Union Minister could not make any assessment of the Barak-Nung Dolan section which is in the worst shape.
At present, the 7 kms long Barak-Nung Dolan section is totally covered with mud and water and no one would say there exists a road at the first glance.
It is quite a struggle for transporters to cross this section.
If the State Government does not make necessary instruction to the BRO to repair the Barak-Nung Dolan section on war footing, it would not be long before the same section goes out of service totally, added the source.
