Imphal, July 22 2013:
Expressing unhappiness over the recent turning of attention towards NH 37 (Jiri road), which has long been neglected, only when NH 39 near Kohima was sinked down upto 300 ft, Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) has warned for agitations along with people if any danger occured on the road.
In its press note, JDO has cautioned Manipur Government to hold responsible for people's inconveniences on the road including accident or bridge collapse due to poor road maintenance and increase in plying of many heavy vehicles which onced opted the NH 39 .
It has been since long that people of Manipur, various organisations, including the Government expressed their voice to make NH 37 the most important life line of the State.
However, seeing a few benefits the Imphal-Dimapur highway is regarded as more important, which can be assumed that the Government and the organisations only pretend to care for Imphal-Jiri highway, the note added.
It also stated, BRO had announced repeatedly to make NH 37 a complete highway by March this year, however, their assurances were kept postponed again and again making some irrelevant excuses.
JDO questioned the Govt whether it will continue to remain as spectator or wait and watch the carelessness of the BRO.
Such mute attitude of the Govt without taking any action against the BRO shows its weakness.
