Rs 196 Cr sanctioned, Rs 143 Cr utiised

Manipur has utilised Rs 143.86 crore out of Rs 196 crore sanctioned by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for the Imphal Smart City project from 2015-16 to 2021-22 .
As per data released by Smart City Mission Geo-Spatial Management Information System under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manipur received Rs 2 crore under the mission in 2015-16, Rs 109 crore in 2017-18, Rs 6 crore in 2018-19 and Rs 79 crore in 2019-20 .
The state was not allotted any fund for the mission in 2016-17, 2020-21 and 2021-22 .
The total amount sanctioned from 2015-16 till date was Rs 196 crore out of which Rs 143.86 has been utilised so far.
Government of India launched the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) on June 25 2015 .
A total of 100 Smart Cities were selected through 4 rounds of competition conducted from January 2016 to June 2018 .
There has been considerable progress in implementation of projects under the Mission since its inception.
As on November 12, 2021, 6,452 projects worth Rs 1,84_998 crore (90 per cent) have been tendered, out of which 5,809 projects worth Rs 1,56,571 crore (85 per cent) are under implementation/completed.
The pace of implementation has increased significantly over the past 39 months with 270 per cent growth in projects tendered and 407 per cent growth in projects grounded/completed.
The period of implementation of SCM has been extended up to June 2023 and all Smart Cities are expected to complete their projects within the stipulated time.
As on November 12, Government of India has released Rs 27,359.60 crore under SCM, out of which Rs 22,467.81 crore (82 per cent) has already been utilised by the Smart Cities.
The information was given by minister of state for Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, on Monday.
