Tamenglong, January 19 2010:
Concerned over the Tousem Headquarter Student' Union, (THSU) call for boycott of the Republic Day, the Zeliangrong Student's Union Tousem Area, ZSUTA, Tamenglong district, today in a press release, appealed to the THSU to relax boycott as the 2nd Rani Gaidinliu Memorial trophy 2010 to be held at Tousem HQ also falls on the same date.
The press release signed by Ariang Hangda, Vice, Convener of ZSUTA also made certain clarifications on the statement of THSU that appeared on 15 January 2010 in some local newspapers which stated that all development work in Tousem Sub- Division are far behind the rest of the state.
Despite repeated appeals made by general public, Tousem Sub-Division of Tamenglong remains the most backward area of Manipur.
While agreeing with this statement of THSU, ZSUTA felt that laying all the blame on the present SDO Tousem, Dinganglung MCS is not quite right.
There are many factors responsible for the SDO and his staffs not being stationed at Tousem HQs regularly.
The main factors are lack of means of communication and transportation, lack of adequate security force posted here at Tousem HQs.
The health infrastructure is also in a bad condition, ZSUTA assert.
The construction of SDO office has been completed just recently, before this there was no office to attend to in the past.
Due to all these reasons the SDO Tousem and his staffs failed to be at the station regularly, it is not the total negligence of the present SDO Tousem Dinganglung MCS, ZSUTA said.
ZSUTA also appealed to the state government to immediately put in place all the necessary infrastructures so as to bring about development at Tousem sub-Division for a better future.
ZSUTA also appealed to all frontal organizations to look into the matter and grievances face by this most back ward sub-division.
The students' body also appealed not to focus only on failures but to give full cooperation in bringing about development in the area, the ZSUTA added.
