Imphal, January 19 2010:
In view of the rising crime rates and increased frequency of road accidents in Ukhrul town, Ukhrul police have taken up extra measures.
A notification issued by the Ukhrul Sub-Division Police Officer said that people driving vehicles under influence of intoxicants, under-aged drivers and driving without licence would be checked.
Encroachment on road sides and vendor stalls occupying road sides would be evicted.
Moreover, special drives would be launched against liquor vendors, liquor consumers and drug dealers.
Defaulters would be arrested and punished according to law, mentioned the notification.
