In continuation of its drive launched on January 18 to check the sale of expired goods, the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), District Committee, Jiribam, today inspected a shop at Jiribam bazar owned by one Bappa Das, a resident of Kalinagar, Jiribam.
During the drive, a large quantity of expired goods including candies, tin fish and dalmut, were seized by the AMSU, District Committee, Jiribam team led by its general secretary P Joy Kumar Singh, our correspondent reports.
Joy Kumar has appealed to the Food Security Department to look into the matter at the earliest.
AMSU, District Committee, Jiribam has shutdown the shop of Bappa Das for two months as penalty for selling expired goods.
The general secretary of AMSU, District Committee, Jiribam, has urged to all the shopkeepers and traders in and around Jiribam district to refrain from selling expired goods.
AMSU will continue the drive and if any shopkeepers and traders are found selling expired goods, he/she should be held solely responsible for the action taken by the union, Joykumar said.
