Imphal, January 19 2017:
About 64 girls and 57 boys trainee sports persons of different disciplines except those of boxing who have left their SAI-SAG hostel at Khuman Lampak en masse categorically demanded the removal of the Centre In-charge of SAI-SAG, Khuman Lampak, Imphal.
Alleging mismanagement and unfair treatment, the boy trainees had ran away from the hostel yesterday while the girls left the centre today.
Speaking to media persons today at Manipur Press Club, one of the trainees who left the hostel strongly demanded the scrapping of the charge given to L Ibomcha, the Centre In-charge who is also a National coach (boxing) and a dronacharya awardee.
He accused the official of abusing and harassing the trainees besides deliberately overlooking the problems faced by the trainees like water and power supply shortage.
The daily allowance to trainees is cut down to a mere Rs 150, far less than the sanctioned amount, and they are provided with incomplete sports kits and the daily supply of juice to the trainees was stopped from Nov 20 last year, the trainees alleged.
Saying that the official has neglected the umpteen petitions of the trainees requesting the renovation and improvement of hostel infrastructure and other facilities, the trainees categorically stated that they would not return until the charge given to the official is scrapped.
The trainees who left the hostel are trained in the disciplines of Judo, weightlifting, swimming, wushu, karate, wrestling, gymnastics and fencing.
