Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebration concludes

The valedictory ceremony of the ongoing 'Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebration' organised by 15th and 16th Assam Rifles with support from Headquarter 9 Sector under the aegis of IGAR South Assam Rifles was held today at SAI Football Ground, Takyel.
The event was graced by MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, GOC 3 Corps Lieutenant General JP Matthew, Major General Alok Naresh IGAR (South), Retd Lieutenant General Konsam Himalaya, former Minister Okram Henry and various officials of Assam Rifles, said a statement from IGAR (S).
Speaking on the occasion, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba remarked that this celebration commemorates the 50th anniversary of India's victory in the 1972 Indo-Pak War.
Adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebration from the National War memorial, New Delhi with the lighting of the Four Victory Flames, he called it a good fortune that one of the four victory flames which has travelled across the country reached Imphal.
Leishemba Sanajaoba also expressed his pride in being a citizen of the country that showed its bravery and mettle in the face of extreme danger and hardship and emerged victorious in the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
As part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebration, many ethnic groups performed their traditional songs and dances and an exhibitory Khong Kangjei match was also conducted.
