Lions Club of Imphal observes UN Day

Imphal, October 24 2021:
Lions Club of Imphal observed United Nations Day, 2021 at Lions Service Centre, Sangaiprou on Sunday.
As a part of the observance, a Peace Poster contest on the theme "We Are All Connected'' was held for school students of age group 11-15 years.
The first prize was won by Sunaina Saikhom of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphelpat; second by Presila Heikrujam of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphelpat; and Pheedam Sinam of Ramakrishna Mission School won the third prize.
A debating competition for Senior Secondary and College students was also held on the topic, "The mobilization of critical Covid-19 supplies to India under WHO supervision is an example of global solidarity that is required to address the global threat.
Such an act of oneness will surely change the course of pandemic".
The latter competition was won by Thangjam Reena of DM Colfege of Arts while Bolin Laitonjam of Sainik School secured the second position and the third prize was bagged by Naorem Chelsea of St Anthony College, Shillong.
Former head of Programme of AIR Imphal, Dilip Mayengbam attended the event as speaker.
Speaking on the sidelines, Lions Club of Imphal representative pointed out that the International Association of Lions Clubs has been associated with United Nations since its inception on October 24, 1945 .
Keeping in mind the good services rendered by members of Lions Clubs all over the world, the UN observes Lions Day at UN in February or March every year.
In reciprocation of this gesture, Lions Clubs all over the world observe UN Day every year on October 24 .
