Dengue cases increasing: Dr K Rajo

While conceding that there has been increasing cases of Dengue in the state since September, health director Dr K Rajo has said that the department has been taking up measures to fight and contain the spread of dengue.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle, Dr Rajo informed that 16 cases of dengue have been detected in the state so far since September.
There is a need to conduct test if any person is having symptoms of muscles and joint pain, fever and headache.
It is suspected that there might be other cases as the disease could be spread easily through mosquito bites, he continued.
Explaining that dengue has three types, Rajo opined that the case found in the state might be the mild one.
However, it should not be taken lightly as the virus could mutate at any point of time.
The changing climatic condition has strengthened potency of the viruses including those causing dengue, thereby causing several diseases.
He further explained that mosquito Jays eggs in stagnant water accumulated in drain and containers due to rainfall.
As stagnant water containers and bodies enhance spread of the disease people should not let water to accumulate in low lying areas, he said and stressed the need for maintaining a clean surrounding and always use mosquito net while sleeping and wear full sleeves.
Pointing out that the government has been taking up fogging activities, spraying of insecticides, conducting awareness programme and distributing insecticide-treated mosquito nets to fight the spreading of dengue, he urged the people to take proper precautionary measures against the viruses causing different diseases.
