Sawombung locals appeal Government

Urging the authorities concerned to finish the under-construction bridge over Iril river (Imphal-Ukhrul road), people of Sawombung yesterday sought the attention of the Government on various needs of the area.
As the construction of the new bridge remains unfinished, people have no choice but to use the 'old and unsafe bridge', said Sawombung Kabui Khunjao Phoubei member Kamei Gangmumei.
Speaking to media persons during the series of inspections and visits to areas under Lamlai organised by Lamlai Kendra Development Committee (LKDC), Kamei also shed light on other grievances of the people of the area.
The paddy fields in the area are facing drought like situation, he said adding that the people's grievances have been deepen by the sitting of SDO/SDC staff at Porompat.
He also sought the Government to look into the functioning of various Government department offices and institutions in the area such as the veterinary office and BDO office and do the needful to address the grievances of the people at the earliest.
