Health Minister distributes La-Bike

With the distribution of a "Mobile Laboratory in a Bike" (La-Bike) each to 21 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) by Health Minister L Jayantakumar today as the last phase of the initiative, all the PHCs in the State are now equipped with Mobile Laboratory in a Bike (La-Bike).
Notably, 64, out of total 85 existing PHCs, were already equipped with a La-Bike each in the previous phases.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched the initiative in the State with the main objective of providing free diagnostic facilities and other laboratory services at the doorsteps of the people living in remote and hilly areas of the State with the help of the facilities available in La-Bike (which is a mobile laboratory system fitted on a Motorcycle) .

Speaking as the chief guest at the La-Bike distribution function which was organized by the Directorate of Health Services and State Health Society, National Health Mission, Manipur at State Family Welfare Training Centre, RD Wing, Lamphelpat, Health Minister Jayantakumar asked the medical professionals and staff concerned of the PHCs to ease the inconveniences and difficulties faced by the public in rural areas, through optimum use of the facilities available in La-Bikes.
Admitting that there are many shortages in terms of manpower and infrastructure in the health sector of the State, he said that medical professionals and other staff working in the health sector cannot simply overlook the objectives of providing adequate health care services to the public owing to the shortages.
Doctors, nurses and staff have to walk the extra mile and go into high gear to cater adequate health care services to the public despite manpower and infrastructure shortages, as the objective of the Health Department and the Government is to lessen ailments and save human lives as much as possible, Jayantakumar added.
Claiming that the State Health Department is also trying its best to cater adequate health care services in the State in line with the objective and aspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for improvement of health care sector in all the States of the country, the Health Minister opined that the gap in the health sector of the State will be made up to a great extent if maximum benefits of La-Bike reach the public.
Health & Family Welfare Services, Manipur Director Dr K Rajo Singh and SHS, NHM, Manipur State Mission Director Dr S Manikanta Singh also attended the function as president and guest of honour respectively.
