Murder accused remanded to judicial custody

Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West, today remanded Arambam Leeman in judicial custody till September 15 in connection with the murder of one Kangabam Nanao alias Romesh of Langthabal Mantrikhong Awang Leikai on August 26 .
Arambam Leeman alias Bungcha (34) s/o Santabi of Langthabal Mantrikhong Awang Leikai was produced before the Court following the completion of 4 days police remand under Singjamei PS in connection with the murder case.
During the proceeding, the IO of the case (through the APP of the State) submitted that on August 26, at around 11.30 am, the younger brother of K Romesh, lodged a written complaint to the of OC Singjamei PS stating that the Leeman came to their house and exchanged some heated arguments with his older brother.
Following the argument, the accused ran away from the house and Romesh followed him.
However, later, Romesh was found near Organization for Norton Emancipator Club (along the IVR of Langthabal Mantrikhong Awang Leikai) few distance way from the residence of the accused, with stab wounds on his abdomen.
Romesh was rushed RIMS but declared brought dead and hence an FIR case was registered.
The IO further submitted that the accused was arrested the same day and the murder weapon (a kitchen knife) was also seized by the police.
On further interrogation, it was revealed that earlier on the day of the incident, he was sleeping peacefully under a tree near Paiyeb Thong when he was woken abruptly by the deceased Romesh.
When he looked around, he saw that Romesh had just passed the place where he was sleeping on his auto rickshaw.
Angered by Romesh's actions, Leeman immediately went to Romesh's residence and a heated argument ensued.
Leeman disclosed that the mother of the deceased tried to intervene and during the scuffle, she and him both sustained some injuries.
The IO continued that Leeman explained that he was later dropped at his home by the younger brother of the deceased and after entering his house, he narrated the whole story to his mother.
However, after some time, Romesh came to his house and the argument started again during which he picked up a knife which was lying in the house and stabbed Romesh, the IO explained, praying for judicial custody remand of the accused for investigation of the case.
The Court after going through the case records, and hearing the submission of the IO, remanded the accused to judicial custody till September 15 .
