CCpur, August 30 2019:
The JACAATB has late last night issued an appeal calling on the public to observe the Tribal Unity Day which falls on August 31 as a time to remember and contemplate on the sacrifice made by the nine tribal martyrs even as it also called for closure of all shops and establishments, private and Government institutions between 10 am and 1 pm tomorrow.
The Tribal Martyrs' Park at Mata Dam shall remain open to the public till 2 pm of the same day to enable the public to pay homage to the sacrifices made by the nine tribal martyrs, said the JAC in a statement.
Meanwhile, the committee also highlighted that the State Government is yet to fulfil its part of the MoU signed with the JACAATB particularly on the creation of Lamka District and the State Government's support to the ongoing tripartite talks with various Zo (Zomi, Kuki and Hmar) armed groups, and therefore claimed that the fight for ancestral tribal lands, rights and identity remains an unfinished story.
The nine bodies laid in rest for nearly 2 years to re-gister the protest of CCpur.
