Citing abnormal growth of population in some sub-divisions of the State in the last three decades, Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has stated that delimitation exercise of Manipur should not be carried out based on 2001 or 2011 censuses.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at its office premises on Thursday, KSA president, N Chetan stated that the student body will send a memorandum to the President, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister in this regard.

Opining that double-counting might have taken place due to the movement of people from one place to another, Chetan suggested that the delimitation exercise should be carried out only after 2021 census.
The Government should first complete the census operation and defer the delimitation till 2026 as per the previous circular of the Central Government, he said adding that exercising the delimitation process based on given two censuses will invite public movement in the State.
