Security tightened ahead of HM's visit

Imphal, February 12 2015 : Security across Manipur, particularly in Imphal has been tightened ahead of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's visit to Manipur.

The Union Home Minister is scheduled to arrive in Imphal on Friday on a two-day visit accompanied by Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju.

Security arrangements have been made to thwart any untoward incident.

Sources said that Rajnath Singh will hold a series of meetings to review the prevailing law and order situation in the State.

He will meet Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh; Chief Secretary PC Lawnkunga; State DGP Shahid Ahmed and senior officials of paramilitary and state administration on the day of his arrival.

Rajnath Singh will also visit the border town of Moreh.

He will attend an interaction programme at the headquarters of 9 Assam Rifles, Moreh.

This will be followed by another round of interaction with public leaders there.

He is scheduled to leave Imphal for Agartala on Saturday morning.

23 CCTVs installed .

Twenty-three new CCTV cameras have been installed and made operational in strategic points in Imphal exclusively as part of the security preparation for the visit of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday.

The cameras which will be controlled by the State police were installed on a temporary basis in compliance with directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs and began functioning from Thursday morning.

Four CCTV cameras have been installed inside the State BJP office at Nityaipat Chuthek in anticipation of last minute decision by Rajnath Singh to visit the party office even though it was not part of his official programme.

One camera was fitted at Keishampat, five along the stretch from Raj Bhavan to General Post Office, another five in the vicinity of Krishna Premi Oil City in Yaiskul and eight in front of Kwakeithel Police Outpost along Tiddim Road.
