The Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed against the bomb blast that occurred at Khunthak Village under Kasom Khullen sub-division in Ukhrul district on February 5, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi on Thursday.
In the memorandum, the JAC said that the bomb blast killed one NK Addison, son of NK Ningthar and critically injured another person K Hillary, son of William of Nambashi Khullen, and added that it was a deliberate attempt to kill and terrorise the people who were gathering for a religious prayer at Mawai Village.
Expressing serious concern at the present law and order situation, the JAC urged the State Government to ensure that such 'terror' acts do not reoccur in future.
The JAC also demanded the State Government to restore central security force at Kasom Khullen sub-division administrative headquarters which was shifted in 1997-98; blacktop Shangshak to Tengnopal BRTF Road which is now under State PWD; ban Indo-Myanmar timber smuggling through Kasom Khullen route; and provide ex-gratia of Rs.5 lakh and Rs.10 lakh to the injured victim and family members of the deceased respectively.
Further, the JAC threatened to launch mass agitation if the State Government fails to fulfill its demands by February 20 .
