Imphal, February 12 2015 :
The joint action committee constituted against the bomb blast at Khunthak under Kasom Khullen sub-division of Ukhrul district on February 5 has urged the State Government to pay ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased and another Rs 5 lakh to the injured victim.
While NK Adison s/o NK Ningthar was killed in the IED blast, K Hillary s/o K William of Nambasi Khullen survived with injuries.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the JAC said that the recent bomb blast reminded every one of the series of attacks which targeted non-Manipuris in Manipur valley and how women and children were allegedly tortured and abused in some areas of Manipur some years back.
Although no one claimed responsibility for the attacks, it was obvious that the targets were innocent tribal brethren in the hill areas and non-Manipuris in the valley.
"This divisive policy must be condemned by all right thinking citizens of Manipur.
Let not the bond of love and fraternity be destroyed by those terror groups.
Let goodwill, harmony, peace and unity prevail among all communities in the State", reads the memorandum.
It then urged the State Government to ensure that such terror acts do not occur again in future.
The memorandum demanded re-deployment of Central security forces at Kasom Khullen sub-division administrative headquarters who were shifted away in 1997-98 .
Black topping of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal BRTF road which is now under State PWD and clamping an effective ban on cross border timber smuggling between India and Myanmar through Shangshak-Tengnoupal road were some other demands raised by the JAC.
The JAC added that they would be compelled to launch serious forms of mass agitation if their demands are not fulfilled by February 20 .
