Election schedule announced, Model Code of Conduct comes into force

The Election Commission of India has announced the Assembly election schedule for 5 States including Manipur which will go to poll in two phases on February 27 and March 3, 2022 .
Speaking to the media at a press conference held at his office, CEO Manipur Rajesh Agrawal (IAS) informed that the official notification will be issued on February 1 for Phase I, and on February 4 for Phase II .
He further informed that with the announcement of election schedule, the 'Model Code of Conduct' has come into effect immediately and will be applicable across the State.
All intending candidates, political parties, the State and the Union Governments and all stakeholders are to comply strictly with the Model Code of Conduct with immediate effect till the election process is completed, the CEO added.

The last date of filing notification is February 8 and February 11 for Phase I and II respectively.
The scrutiny of the nominated candidates will be conducted on February 9 and February 14 .
The ECI has also set February 11 and 16 as the deadline for withdrawal of candidature.
Counting of votes will be done March 10 .
38 Assembly Constituencies which will go to poll in Phase I on February 27 include Khundrakpam, Heingang, Khurai, Kshetrigao, Thongju, Keirao, Andro, Lamlai, Thangmeiband, Uripok, Sagolband, Keishamthong, Singjamei, Yaiskul, Wangkhei, Sekmai (SC), Lamsang, Konthoujam, Patsoi, Langthabal, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Wangoi, Mayang Imphal, Nambol, Oinam, Bishenpur, Moirang, Thanga, Kumbi, Saikul (ST), Kangpokpi, Saitu (ST), Tipaimukh (ST), Thanlon (ST), Henglep (ST), Churachandpur (ST), Saikot (ST) and Singnat (ST).
Twenty two Assembly Constituencies viz Lilong, Thoubal, Wangkhem, Wangjing Tentha, Khanga-bok, Wabagai, Kakching, Hiyanglam, Sungoo, Jiribam, Chandel (ST), Tengnoupal (ST), Phungyar (ST), Ukhrul (ST), Chingai (ST), Karong (ST), Mao (ST), Tadubi (ST), Tamei (ST), Tamenglong (ST) and Nungba (ST) will go to polls on March 3 in the Phase II.
Rajesh Agrawal further informed the media that the final photo electoral rolls of all 60 Assembly Constituencies in the State was published on January 5, 2022 which included 10,49,639 female voters, 9,85,119 male voters abd 208 transgender voters.
The number of PwD (persons with disabilities) voters is 14,565 while the number of senior citizen voters, above 80 years, is 41,867 .
