Steady spike continues with 76 new cases

Imphal, January 08 2022:
In line with the pace of increase in the number of cases during the last few days, Manipur reported 76 COVID-19 cases including 5 CAPF personnel and 1 death during the last 24 hours.
As the 76 cases were found positive out of 2430 samples tested at different testing centres in the State, the daily positivity rate stood at 3.1 percent against 2.4 percent yesterday.
The positive cases from the general population were reported from Imphal East (22), Imphal West (9), Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (8), Senapati (6), Noney (1), Ukhrul (1) and Churachandpur (19) .
With a single Covid related death reported during the last 24 hours, the cumulative death toll in the State stands at 2010 .
7 individuals were discharged from home isolation (6) and CCCs (1) today.
With this discharge, the number of active cases in the State is 414 (367 from the general population and 47 CAPF personnel) .
The recovery rate has further slumped to 98.08 percent against 98.13 percent yesterday.
Bishnupur with 7.8 percent (8 cases out of 103 samples) and Kakching with 6 percent (3 cases out of 50 samples) reported the highest daily positivity rates during the last 24 hours while all the remaining 14 districts reported daily positivity rate below 5.With the addition of 76 cases, the cumulative number of positive cases is 1,26,088 including 1,21,607 from the general population and 4,481 from CAPF.
5397 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered on January 7 .
The cumulative doses of Covid vaccines that have been administered has reached 23,43,309 (13,38,158 1st dose and 10,05,151 2nd dose) .
42.94 percent of the eligible population of the State have received both dose of the vaccine while 56.97 percent of the eligible population have received the first dose of the vaccine.
Jiribam with 59.15 percent, Imphal West with 58.32 percent and Imphal East with 53.74 percent are the districts with the highest number of double vaccination, while Kangpokpi (13.14 percent), Ukhrul (18.47 percent) and Senapati (24.57 percent) are the worst performing districts on the vaccination front.
