Imphal, January 08 2022:
Moirang MLA P Sharatchandra Singh had clarified that he has nothing to do with the unfortunate incident during an 'Opinion poll' exercise and subsequent firing by M BJYM state president Barish Sharma's team at BJP Bishnupur district office on Friday.
A clarification letter by chief executive officer of MLA Moirang AC Nilamani Singh addressed to BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda recounted that it was Barish who produced a list of voters which was not approved by the concerned BJP Bishnupur Mandal and not signed by any of the state officials.
The unapproved list was submitted by Barish's brother-in-law M Prithviraj Singh, a former MLA who recently joined BJP, alleged the Moirang MLA office.
It claimed as that list had many ineligible voters (all past Congres councillors of more than 10-25years) Moirang Mandal and the MLA sough an explanation from the authority.
"There was an argument with Moirang Mandal team but the matter remained inconclusive and the officials then walked away without giving any particular reason," it said.
The letter also clarified that there was no snatching of ballot as voting of Moirang AC had not even started.
It also said that "what happened downstairs with Bishnupur AC polling issue and subsequent events had nothing to do with MLA Sharatchandra Singh and therefore, Barish and his team should apologise to the MLA and stringent action must be taken against Barish for spreading false allegation against a sitting BJP MLA (his social media post) and creating a public chaos." The Moirang MLA office further asked Barish to release the list of eligible voters submitted by his brother-in-law so that public will know the truth and reasons for objection by Moirang Mandal to settle the issue once for all.
