Imphal, January 08 2022:
INC's intending candidate in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency Dr Soraisam Manaoton has underscored the roles of youth and women in bringing development in the society.
Attending a discussion programme on 'Role of women in elections' held at his Mekola residence on Saturday, Dr Manaoton said that sincerity, vision and commitment are prerequisite for an elected representative in order to bring developmental changes.
It is time the people of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC join hands and work in this regard, he said.
He called upon the public not to elect candidates, who cannot raise a single social issue in the state assembly and find solutions to those issues.
The state needs good leaders, who can make a difference and bring forth the state in the development front, and leaders who could uphold the culture, identity and integrity of the state.
Unfortunately, money and muscle powers are taking centre stage in the state politics which has resulted in poll-related violence and it is time for the youth and women to lead in stopping such culture in order to ensure the true meaning of democracy, he said.
He also listed failed sectors in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency and urged for public support in order to transform the constituency for the betterment of all.
Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Block Congress Committee president Nandeibam Sangoijao, 21/22 NP Mahila Congress Committee president Kshetrimayum Premi, 21/30 Election Committee vice-president Mutum Chaobihal and NPBCC advisor Md Salim attended the programme among others.
