Imphal, January 08 2022:
Stating that NPP will be her closest rival in the upcoming 2022 state assembly election, intending candidate in Yaiskul assembly constituency Thounaojam Brinda has said that she will announce her decision with regard to affiliation to a political party within a short period.
Attending an election campaign meeting held at Ningthem Pukhri Mamang, Ayangpalli Makha Leirak community hall on Saturday, Brinda said that she has not taken any decision regarding her political party affiliation as of now but she will take a decision soon.
The police officer-turned politician said that there is no future for youth in the state in the ongoing trend as there is no financial and job security.
Getting a job has become next to impossible due to rampant corruption and the trend will impact youth and poor families the most.
Only a handful of individuals who have link with politicians and high-ranking bureaucrats are enjoying comfortable life.
Considering the bleak future of the youth and the society, it is high time for the people to think and take a stand for a better future, she said.
Money and muscle power is a global phenomenon but they will not have any impact when the public are awakened and understand the real value of electoral politics.
They need to understand that the huge fund used in election by candidates are public money and as such exercise their voting rights wisely, she said.
Welcoming the increasing number of women candi- dates, Brinda said that sending them to the state assembly is not only the responsibility of women but it also depends on the public support.
They are the ones to decide the type of government they want.
As for her, she is getting huge public support so far.
Unlike campaign meetings of other parties' candidates, who distribute cash for attending such meetings, all her supporters who have been attending her meetings come on their own without any persuasion, she said, while thanking the public support and changing mindsets.
