Stage set for Sangai Festival today

Imphal, November 20 2015 :
Government of Manipur has made all necessary arrangements to successfully host the Sangai Festival 2015, an annual cultural event organised by Manipur Tourism Department.
The festival will be inaugurated by Manipur Governor V Shanmuganathan as the Chief Guest.
Chief Minister O Ibobi will attend the function as Chief Guest at the closing ceremony.
DoNER Secretary Navinda Verma will visit Imphal on November 23 to attend the festival.
Many Ambassadors and High Commissioners (HC) from abroad are expected to attend this year's edition of the festival.
Officials had stated that Ambassadors of Norway, Indonesia, Japan and China will be present at the Sangai Festival apart from High Commissioners from other countries including Bangladesh.

A cultural troupe from Thailand will also take part in the festival.
Bhutan Ambassador is arriving on first day.
About 35 officials and delegates from Myanmar will participate in the festival.
The security arrangements in and around the festival venues have been beefed up.
All the Chief Secretaries of the Northeastern States will visit the festival on November 24 and discuss trade and commerce in the region.
Like previous years, there will be an International Polo Tournament participated by foreign teams including USA, UK, Thailand and Australia.
Various traditional housing designs will be exhibited at Hapta Kangjeibung, where the main events of the festival will take place.
Paintings and sculptures by artists of Manipur, Second World War museum pieces and photos will also be exhibited during the festival.
There will be the Shumang Leela (courtyard theatre/plays) staged at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen.
The venue of the festival will have around 286 stalls including around 38 food stalls.
One special attraction of the festival will be the staging of a ballad titled "Keibul Lamjao" during the Theatre Festival which will be held from November 22 to 28 .
