MPCC chief for cultural balm to heal society

MPCC president Gaikhangam has called upon the people to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of their forefathers, stating that despite attainment of highest education one who does not understand his/her own culture is not a complete human being.
Inaugurating the Ist State Level Taal Phangnaba, which got underway from today at Naorem Chaprou Panthoibi Shanglen, MPCC president Gaikhangam, who was the chief guest of the function, said that culture has been playing a pivotal role in restoration of peace in a society.
Being organised under the aegis of Samurou Sangeet Natya Vidyalaya, the event would go on for two days.
Observing that just after sports, it is the culture of Manipur which introduces the State to the world, Gaikhangam said that despite attainment of highest education, one who does not understand the value of his/her own culture is not a complete human being.
So, it should be the bounden duty of the present generation to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of their forefathers, he exhorted.
Gaikhangam further observed that the relationship between the people in the hills and the valley areas of Manipur can never be separated and they should always live together in peace and harmony.
Padmashree Sougaijam Thanil observed that Nat Sanskirtan is the only path to peace in this strife-torn State.
Nat Sanskirtan is like the tree of peace and harmony.
So, more and more youths should join in the effort of promoting Nat Sanskirtan, whose popularity seems to have declined lately.
Vice president of MPCC Sagolsem Achouba, who is also the president of Samurou Sangeet Natya Vidyalaya, informed that gathering that efforts are being made for setting up a college of the Vidyalaya and appealed for co-operation and support of the people in this regard.
