Land value to be doubled

The State Cabinet has decided to increase land and property valuation to double the amount previously fixed by the Government of Manipur for land acquisition in Lei-Ingkhol area.
The land acquisition process is for the expansion of the Mini Secretariat complex, construction of which is currently underway at Mantripukhri.
The Minister Secretariat is a component of the Capitol Project.
According to an informed source, a cabinet meeting held this morning with the Chief Minister presiding over the session reviewed the previous land and property valuation amount officially declared by the Imphal East district Deputy Commissioner and decided to hike the amount.
Along with identifying 109 individuals/families as encroachers currently settled in Lei Ingkhol, the Cabinet also decided to provide rehabilitation and relief package, from the fund deposited with the Works Department, to those families likely to be affected by the land acquisition process.
The Cabinet also approved necessary fund for strengthening manpower and equipment purchases for ITI, Ukhrul and Lilong, informed the source adding that the Labour Department has been entrusted to prepare a detailed report about development of ITIs present in the State.
In addition to deciding on setting up a monitoring and supervision committee to oversee work activities of school management and development committees, functioning under the Education Department (Schools), appointing 75 staff on contract basis in MACS were the other decisions taken by the Cabinet.
