Following bomb attack at rail work site, CM beefs up security for rail project workers

Unwilling to tolerate further disturbances caused to the ongoing railway line construction work, Chief Minister Okram ibobi Singh today issued firm directives to officials concerned for adequate security cover to labourers engaged in the national project.
In the backdrop of the october 6 blast at a labourers' camp in Kambiron village of Tamenglong district that injured seven workers, the CM today convened a meeting to chalk up security strategies for shielding the railway project workers from unwanted elements.
Informing that the CM is seriously worried about disruptive acts likely to impede the rail-line construction work, a source said today's meeting was attended by Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, DGP MK Das and top officials of Railways, Revenue Department, Powergrid and Forest Departments.

To the CM's instruction that safety of the project workers should be ensured at all cost, security officials present reportedly confided that pre-emptive security plans have already been put in place.
The CM is also informed to have asked security, revenue and railway officials for close and constant coordination to facilitate the work agency/workers complete the task smoothly and within the stipulated schedule.
To the Forest Department officials, Ibobi insisted that relevant process be initiated for early environmental clearance for the project, already declared a National project, added the source.
