BJP discusses State issues

A high level team of BJP Manipur unit recently held a series of consultations with the top brass of BJP Central leadership in New Delhi to discuss on a wide range of issues faced by the state like border row with Myanmar, the ailing economy, drug trafficking, rampant corruption, controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA), apart from the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
S Premananda Sharma, general secretary, Organisations, BJP Manipur Pradeh and Ksh Bhabhananda Singh, general secretary were among the team, said a statement of the state BJP on Wednesday.
It said the delegation had a detailed deliberation on the issues with Central BJP leaders like Dr Subramanium Swamy, Nirmala Sitharaman.
It apprised Dr Swamy about unchecked black marketing and drug trafficking in the state, misrule of the Congress Government, frequent economic blockade, price rise, unemployment problem and infrastructural bottleneck, the statement said.
The team also informed Swami in detail about the widespread involvement of the state Government machinery in drug trafficking cases that recently an Indian Army Col named Ajay Choudhry including son of a sitting Congress MLA and several state police forces were arrested along with huge quantities of illicit drugs.
The team also discussed with Swami on the deplorable condition of National Highway 39 (Imphal-Dimapur road) and National Highway 37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) which are considered lifelines of Manipur.
It also discussed with the BJP leader on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Dr Swami had assured the delegation that he would be visiting the state in the second week of November and interact with the intellectuals of the state on these issues, the statement said.
The delegation also separately met BJP National Spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed the prevailing political situation in the state.
During the meeting she informed the state BJP team that she would visit Manipur on October 19-21 during which she will attend a three-day Residential Pravesh Training.
Nirmala and Dr Swamy had also shown keen interest to have interaction with the Manipur University faculties and students during their visits to the state, the statement said.
