Residential skill development training on fruit processing and value addition kicks off

A five-day residential skill development training on fruit processing and value addition was inaugurated today at the training hall of Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS), Mantripukhri.
The training programme has been organised by Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) in collaboration with Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department and Agriculture Department under the aegis of Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCD-NER) .
DSSS Director, Reverend Father Biju Luckose and proprietor of Meira Foods, Shubhra Devi Hanjabam graced the inaugural function as the presidium members.

Addressing the gathering, Rev Biju Luckose had informed that DSSS is a service provider of MOVCD-NER.
Under DSSS, eleven Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) have been opened at different districts of the State and measures have been taken up to open two more FPCs, he added.
He further stated that Diocesan Social Service Society has been working in collaboration with around 5000 farmers across the State.
Briefing on the objectives of organising the 5-day training programme, he said that it has been organised to motivate the farmers and to raise awareness on fruit processing and value addition with special focus on modern skill and technology apart from the existing traditional knowledge.
Speaking at the occasion Shubhra Devi Hanjabam narrated how Meira Foods was established 18 years ago and encouraged the attendees to strive for the better by recounting many inspirational stories.
Around 80 representatives from 11 FPCs under DSSS are participating in the training programme.
