Imphal, September 05 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president Hareswar Goswami has said that the only development that the BJP government has brought in its eight years rule is the increasing rate of unemployment and the frequent hiking of prices of essential commodities thereby making the people to suffer like never before.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan here on Monday, Hareswar said that both the 'Mehangai Par Halla Bol' rally held in Delhi on Monday and the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' set to start from September 7 are against false promises made by BJP to the people before the election.
Around 100 Congress workers and leaders from the state including CLP leader O Ibobi Singh, MPCC president K Meghachandra and CWC member Gaikhangam took part at the Delhi rally on Monday and they shouted slogans against price hike in the country.
Congress party is also all set for 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' from Kanyakumari to Srinagar from Wednesday and the foot march is also against price hike and false promises made by BJP to the people since the past eight years.
In view of the restriction imposed against taking out the rally to protest anti-people activities of the government and gagging mainstream media by BJP, the need for second independence movement has arrived, he said, adding that Congress party is denied the opportunity to raise voice in the Parliament when government institutions are being misused.
Congress party is compelled to launch the rallies in view of repeated sum moning of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by Enforcement Directorate without valid reason and against false promises made by BJP.
BJP promised to provide employment to two crore youths every year but unemployment rate has increased in the country now due to lack of money while price of cooking gas which was only around Rs 400 during Congress government has reached Rs 1300 now, he pointed out.
